Hill-tribe Villages

An excellent time to check out the villages is during 1 of their festivals when you can see the villagers in their finery. Above 100 many years ago, the Hill-tribe folks migrated south from China into existing-day Burma, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. The six main tribes are the Karen (Kariang, Yang), Hmong (Meo), Yao (Mien), Akha (Ekaw), Lisu (Lisaw), and Lahu (Mussur).
Each and every tribe is unique, with own culture, religion, language, art, and dress; offered the rate of modernization, it is unknown how extended these tribes will carry on their traditions. The guided tours offer you various routes and alternatives, such as accommodations inside of consenting hill tribe villages.

Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park

This protected marine park consists of above 40 islands different in size and shape with tropical rainforests and gorgeous beaches. Entry to the park is limited to the different licensed tour operators and boat rental organizations in Koh Samui and Koh Tao. His is a great way to explore the islands and get pleasure from some seaside time.

Elephant Nature Park

Sangduen Chailert (Lek) founded this conservation project in the early 1990s as a sanctuary for elephants that had previously been employed for logging or performing. While there are lots of other elephant camps and parks, these elephants were rescued from horrible functioning ailments and allowed to reside in organic family groups.

Damnoen Saduak

This floating industry is about 65 miles south of Bangkok in the Ratchaburi Province.
More than 5000 tourists go to this 100-year-old floating industry every day time so if you don’t really feel like fighting the crowds, you can also try the Taling Chan, Bang Khu Wiang, or Tha Kha Floating Markets. Make sure you check the times, though, as these three markets have constrained hours/days.

Wat Arun

This temple is thought to be to be the most well-known and photographed temple in Bangkok, with a 250-foot-large tower decorated with thousands of tiny pieces of colored glass and Chinese porcelain. The ideal place to view/photograph Wat Arun is from the opposite side of the river.
(It is located on the west aspect of the Chao Praya River although Wat Pho and the Grand Palace are on the east part of the Chao Praya.)

Wat Pho

Wat Pho (or Wat Phra Chetuphon, Temple of the Reclining Buddha) is the greatest Wat in Bangkok, and recognized for getting the two Thailand’s biggest reclining Buddha and the most quantity of Buddha illustrations or photos in Thailand. It is down the street from the Grand Palace. The gold-plated reclining Buddha is hugely extraordinary at 46 meters long and 15 meters higher. The temple grounds include more than 1000 images as properly as the center for classic Thai massage.

Grand Palace

The Grand Palace is one particular of Bangkok’s most famous landmarks. The compound consists of the previous royal residences, government buildings, Wat Phra Kaew (temple containing the Emerald Buddha) and numerous stunning, intricate chedi (Buddhist structures). Offered them a lot of buildings, you most likely want to have a guide to explain every of the structures as the pamphlet you get when you pay your admission does not go into that great of detail. As this is 1 of Thailand’s most sacred web sites, there is a strict dress code: both males and ladies ought to be modestly dressed, which includes covering of the feet.

Pattaya

An internationally well-known seaside resort, Pattaya is a vibrant city night and day. Its population is a colorful potpourri of mixed nationalities from around and far. A vast range of tourism-associated actions await the pleasure of site visitors, from relaxing on the seaside, actively taking part in land and sea-dependent sports to visiting the scores of attractions in and around Pattaya.

Qatar Tourist Attractions

The nation of Qatar has numerous tourist attractions for any visitor or native to the country. Rich in history, there’s a wide selection of places to visit and sights to see in this Arab nation, whether you have an academic interest in the country, are looking to have some fun, or want to experience life in the luxurious comfort of one of the wealthiest nations in the world.

Doha, the capital of Qatar, is resplendent with hotels, restaurants, and more for the visiting tourist. The Corniche Bay, a seven kilometer long ocean front, is one of the most beautiful sights in the entire peninsula. Featuring paved walking paths and a variety of shops and restaurants, it’s a must visit for anyone in the capital city. The Al Bida Park, known as the best picnic spot in Doha, is part of the Corniche Bay area, and is host to some of the more upscale businesses of the area.

Also featured in Doha are a number of museums. The Qatar National Museum showcases the culture of the Qatari people; it’s been in operation since 1901, when it was converted from the former palace of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Qassim Al Thani. The ‘Wind Tower House’ is host to the Ethnographic Museum, which depicts the history of the development of Doha and Qatar from the emirate it once was to the financial power house it is now. Other museums in Qatar outside of Doha are the Al Khor Museum, located a little over 50 kilometers to the north of Doha, the Al Wakra museum less than 20 kilometers south of the capital, and the Weaponry Museum.

The first of these is a museum dedicated to anthropological studies of Qatar, its life, and its people. The Al Khor museum heavily features information on fishing and marine life, as the city has long been famous for its port activities. The Al Wakra museum likewise has some sections on the life that’s grown in Qatar, though it is more focused on preserving artifacts from previous and current Qatari generations, as well as showcasing the architecture and technology of the thousands of years of history of this nation. The aptly named Weaponry Museum has multiple exhibits displaying over twenty-one hundred items, covering a wide range from ancient swords to modern firearms.

There are also other parks and attractions in Qatar, for those looking to spend more time outside and not as comfortable in the confines of a museum. Aladdin’s Kingdom is an amusement park located in the West Bay region; it boasts 18 different rides suitable for all ages, and is part of a landscaping project that introduced numerous greenspaces as well as an artificial lagoon to the area. Other amenities in the park include a cafeteria, theatre, and separate mosques for separate genders. For animal lovers, the Doha Zoo just off of the Salwa highway has an exotic collection of animals both from the local ecosystems as well as from neighboring and far off countries. While it doesn’t feature as heavily on the ‘fun’ scale as The Kingdom does, the Zoo does have its own recreation and amusement section for kids who are not interested in the wildlife on display.

Qatar also is host to numerous historical landmarks: Dukhan, a little over eighty kilometers from Doha, is the original place in Qatar where oil was found, the singular event that transformed a once meek fishing and pearling nation into the resource powerhouse it is today. Al Zubra is a city that hosts a now disused fort, which was up until the 1980′s a functional military base planted square in the middle of an ancient castle.

All in all there are many, many sites to visit in Qatar, probably more than one can see in just one visit! Whether it’s the beautiful sandy beaches all over the nation’s shores or the artificially created Palm Tree Island resort, there’s a great number of wonderful tourist attractions inside and out of Doha.

The author has a website that offers competitive rates on Qatar Hotels. To book at one of the Doha hotels online today, visit BestQatarHotels.com

Spanish Holiday Islands Enjoy Hot 2007 Tourist Summer

In the early summer months the outlook for many European holiday destinations wasn’t looking good, and hundreds of thousands of holidays were being heavily discounted to tempt Brits to take a holiday in Spain.

But British travel agents saw a sharp turnaround in their summer season fortunes, as people fed up with weeks of rain and the heaviest flooding in living memory ditched home holidays in favour of an overseas trip.

The top destination was Spain, with the Balearic islands of Menorca, and in particular Majorca, heading the list. The Spanish mainland’s Costa Blanca and Portugal’s Algarve were also popular choices for families wishing to get away from it all.

With a rush for the sun, low prices and good deals were becoming hard to come by, and many holidays were selling at full price, with some companies even being able to increase their original prices with demand so high.

The general advice seemed to be to get a low price holiday holidaymakers needed to be at a travel agents as soon as they opened as there were so few about, or to regularly check internet sites for holiday companies like Thomas Cook and Thomson Holidays in the hope that they might bag a bargain.

‘It was good news for the travel industry’, commented one Menorca travel guide, ‘it looked like there would be plenty of availability and prices would have to be slashed to lure people into a summer holiday abroad. But then with higher prices and strong demand hotels and the holiday industry in general benefitted from an unexpectedly good year.’

A spokesman for ABTA, the association of British travel agents, commented that April was so warm that everyone expected summer to be a scorcher and a lot of people decided not to go abroad. But then there was a rush to book a holiday.

The floods affected large parts of England and claimed four lives, and left a hundred thousand homes without water for two weeks in parts of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Insurance companies warned that the floods will ultimately cost small businesses millions, and insurers have been receiving tens of millions in claims from homeowners. The British government offered emergency aid to the worst affected areas to help with the cost of the clear-up. Yorkshire in the north of England saw some of the heaviest flooding, with thousands of homes left without power and three people dying.

The surge in holiday bookings came at a particularly opportune time for the three Balearic islands of Menorca, Majorca and Ibiza, who were doing better than many holiday areas before the British floods.

Clubbers from around Europe, and especially from the UK, descend upon Ibiza in the summer months for a week – and often two – of non stop partying.

Ibiza runs second only to the UK’s main cities of London, Manchester and Liverpool in terms of popularity for clubbers, and some of the Ibiza clubs are as well known as any in the UK.

The three Balearic Islands of Menorca, Majorca and Ibiza might be close to each other, but they are all different in character and the type of tourist they typically attract.

A surprise is that the amount of time spent on Ibiza by each tourist is longer than on Menorca and Majorca – destroying the myth that Ibiza is primarily for long weekends or short trips for a couple of nights in the club.

Recent findings by the Balearics Tourist Authority show that after Ibiza, Menorca visitors stay on average for 11 days, with Majorca just behind. And the same pattern emerges for spending per day, with Ibiza top, Majorca second, and Menorca last.

The amount spent by Ibiza tourists averaged 94 Euros a day – a huge contribution to the island’s economy, looked on enviously by Majorca and Menorca.

The Best Costa Rican Tourist Attractions

For its small size, Costa Rica packs a wallop in the number of tourist attractions it has for its visitors. There are Costa Rican tourist attractions in every region of the country with sights that you wonâ??t be able to see anywhere else. Take a trip to the Arenal Volcano Observatory Park where you can stand on the observation deck to have magnificent views of an active volcano. The park also offers hiking opportunities to cascading waterfalls, towers and monuments. You can even choose to stay in the park because there is a lodge within its boundaries.

The church of Our Lady of Los Angeles is the most famous church in the country. It is located in Cartago in the Central Valley. The story behind this church is that a statue was discovered on this site in 1635 and miraculously reappeared after it was removed. A church was then built on the site and the location became the site of shrine to which thousands of pilgrims journey on August 2 of each year. Many healings have been attributed to this church and the site of the gifts and offerings left by those healed is an impressive sight.

On the Central Pacific Coast you have to see and walk the Rainmaker. This is a series of suspension bridges that run through the canopy of the rainforest, the first aerial walkway in Central America. From the walkway you can see a trail through the rainforest as well as many waterfalls. At its highest point the bridges are 25 stories tall. In this same area, you can also take the Rainforest Aerial Tram that moves along the rainforest canopy. There is a naturalist guide on every trip to point our sights of interest and to alert you to the sight of animals you otherwise may miss.

In Monteverde, two of the must see attractions are the Cloud Forest and the Butterfly Garden. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve where you can see thousands of species of birds and animals in their natural habitat. The hike through the forest is very scenic with tall trees, rapids and waterfalls. At the Butterfly Garden, you will see hundreds of species of butterflies in the screened garden. There are many photo opportunities to see butterflies in virtually every color of the rainbow.

Visit the oldest park in the country, Santa Rosa Park, when you visit the Northwest. It is here you will see the nesting sea turtles on the beach. There are attractive beaches here that are open to the public and there is a vast network of hiking trails that lets you see the wildlife and plant life of the area. This World Heritage Site is the last remaining dry rainforest in Central America.

San Jose is a treasure trove of tourist attractions, chief of which is the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum.  Here you will see one of the largest collections of gold from before the discovery of the country by Christopher Columbus. In addition to the gold artifacts, this museum also house paintings and a postal stamp museum. The Jade Museum houses one of the largest collections of Jade, but it also offers the most breathtaking views of the city from the windows of the 11th floor.

Location for a Major Tourist Resort is Cancun

In the 1970s Mexicos tourism planners decided that a deserted sand spit on the Yucatan peninsula close to the small fishing village of Puerto Juarez was the ideal location for a major tourist Mecca and they set about building a brand new world class resort. Today Cancun, with a permanent population of 500000, is Mexicos premier tourist destination.

The magnificent resort city of Cancun now offers visitors over 25000 rooms in four and five star hotels as well as all inclusive. Just twenty years ago Cancun was a deserted, sun-drenched island off the northeast tip of the Yucatan peninsula.

Also known as Cancun City, the downtown area or Centro is a nine-block square connected to the island by a causeway. The commercial heart of Cancun, is where you will find lots of restaurants and some nice little shops, particularly along Yaxchilan Avenue. Flea market are on Tulum Avenue, the main street, where silver items and handicrafts brought in from all of Mexico.

Downtown is home to less expensive places to shop, including supermarkets such as Soriana and Walmart not to mention several Flea Markets like the one in the Hotel Zone.

Cancun has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. For those who go out more for daytime than night time sports. The beaches are of powdery coral sand, is the place to be. Cancun is a snorkel and scuba diving paradise, the lagoon enclosed by the L shape of the island, is ideal for sailing and water skiing. Deep-sea fishing and diving are fantastic in the open sea, which stretches out in shades of light-green to turquoise from the shoreline to the violet-blue horizon. Along the coastline of about 540 miles, there are numerous coral islands and a reef barrier, the second largest in the world.

Cancun is alive at night time up the Hotel Zone. Many clubs are divided into sections with techno dance music on one side and on the other live rock bands. These clubs usually open their doors at 10 pm and close when the sun rises.

The Yucatan Peninsula has a rich history and a three-hour bus ride east from Cancun hotel zone. Chichen Itza is considered the capital of ancient Mayan civilization and home to some of Mexicos most important archaeological discoveries. The Pyramid of Kukulkan, El Castillo, a step-sided stone pyramid is the centre piece. Chichen Itza officials still allow tourists to climb up its 91 steps, but this opportunity will soon end due to the impact of the thousands of tourists who visit the site.
