All You Need to Know About Rci Timeshares
Where do you want to vacation next? Hmmm, that is such a tempting question. Let’s see. I want to spend a memorable weekend in a castle in Scotland. Dive in Belize. Splurge in Hong Kong. Relax under Miami’s year-round sunshine. Lie on the softest and whitest sand on Boracay, Philippines. Find love in Paris. And the list goes on…. With an RCI Timeshare, you and I get to stay at luxurious RCI affiliated resorts and at the same time travel and see the world.
RCI Timeshare
Timeshare is essentially a group of people sharing the cost of a vacation home. When you buy a timeshare, you buy the right to use a specific vacation accommodation for a set amount of time each year either for life or for a specified amount of years. You and the other owners pay an annual maintenance fee after the one-time purchase. Resort Condominiums International (RCI), the largest vacation exchange in the world, sells timeshares in either one-week increments (or more) as packages of points that can be used to reserve vacation accommodations in RCI’s worldwide resort properties. RCI also allows you as a member to exchange or trade in your time at a specific location towards time at another destination. This affords you the flexibility to visit different vacation places.
RCI Network
Established in 1974, RCI is the global leader in vacation exchange. RCI has through the years built the widest resort network with almost 4000 affiliated resort destinations including the latest island destinations and exciting off-the-beaten-path hotspots. RCI boasts over three million member families who enjoy dream vacations at its plethora of resorts.
RCI Programs
RCI offers its members two main exchange systems to choose from as well as multiple programs to act as supplements. These programs help members to customize their timeshare exchange to suit their specific needs.
RCI Weeks is the company’s traditional week-for-week exchange system. This program allows owners to trade their time at their home resorts for time at one of RCI’s over 3,800 affiliated worldwide resorts. To exchange, you simply search RCI’s thousands of exchange listings. Deposit your week into the Spacebank, a pool of weeks deposited by members. Request a week at your choice of resort for the week you have deposited. Confirm your holiday if available or submit a new request.
RCI Points is the most flexible global points-based exchange system. You can vacation where, when and how you like to. As an RCI Points member, you automatically receive a complimentary RCI Weeks membership in addition to the many perks the RCI Points program provides. With this program, you can choose your vacation location and length of stay. Bank or borrow points and tailor-fit your vacation. Rent a vehicle, book a cruise, airline tickets and hotel rooms through RCI’s Points Partner Program.
RCI Benefits
The RCI travel agency presents exclusive offers and discounts on travel services to its members. The Elite Rewards credit card feature allows RCI timeshare holders to earn rewards on daily purchases that can be spent on vacations, flights and hotels. Rewards can also be redeemed for theme park tickets, movie tickets, retail and restaurant certificates.

5 Highlights of a Holiday in Kalkan
Want to experience Turkey’s glorious coast in comfort and sophistication? Book a holiday in one of the Kalkan hotels – here are 5 resort highlights.
What was once a simple fishing village has now become one of the best resorts on the Turkish Coast. Famed for having over 300 days of sunshine each year and for being one of the more sophisticated and laid back of the Turkish resorts, it is the ideal holiday destination for a relaxing break in the sun. Kalkan hotels are of an extremely high quality, and the quieter atmosphere make it especially popular with couples. For a peaceful and romantic holiday in Turkey, Kalkan is an excellent choice.
If you are interested in taking a holiday to Kalkan, here are five highlights that you shouldn’t miss out on in the resort itself and the surrounding area…
The Streets of Kalkan
The resort is set on a steep hillside overlooking the bay, and the narrow cobblestone streets give it a charming and traditional atmosphere. The Kalkan hotels have been designed to fit in naturally with the village architecture, and so it is a great place to simply stroll around and soak up the ambience, with plenty of trinket shops, cafes and restaurants providing places to stop off along the way.
The Marina
The Marina is the heart of Kalkan. Once notable as one of the few good natural harbours in the region, it has been developed into a vibrant and attractive centre, filled with excellent restaurants and bars. There are usually many sailing ships and luxurious yachts passing through the harbour, offering plenty to look at. The Marina is also the place to go to for gulet cruises and local boat trips up the coast.
Kaputas and Patara Beaches
Kalkan has a small rocky beach of its own, but the real highlights are to be found a short distance away. Kaputas and Patara (both accessible via reliable public transport from Kalkan hotels) are regarded as two of the very best beaches in Turkey. Both are outstanding, with Kaputas being a delightful swimming cove backed by a gorge and Patara a glorious 18km white sand beach.
Kekova
Just a short boat ride away from the resort is the island of Kekova, a fascinating sight that you shouldn’t miss. Once an inhabited part of the mainland, a part of the island was submerged by an earthquake thousands of years ago, and the ruins of an ancient town can still be seen just below the surface. The sunken town is a dramatic site, but the rest of Kekova is equally charming, with plenty of beaches and bays to enjoy during your trip here.
Patara
There are many ancient historical sites within easy reach of Kalkan hotels, but Patara is one that should not missed. The ruins of this ancient city are in a remarkably good condition, and a trip here is essential for anyone with an interest in the ancient world. The surrounding area has plenty to see as well – in addition to the outstanding beach that has already been mentioned, there is also a nearby nature reserve, and so a trip out to Patara truly has something to offer everyone!
Nick Wrightman is the founder and M.D. of The Tapestry Collection, specialist holiday tour operators who can arrange a stay in the very best Kalkan hotels as well as packages for Crete, Kefalonia and Morocco. The Tapestry Collection includes boutique hotels, villas, exclusive apartments, gulet holidays and riads in a selection of delightful resorts.

Yachting Holidays
This year, rather than opting for the usual holiday, why not try a yachting holiday? There’s no better way to spend your time than sailing along a beautiful coastline, enjoying the sea breeze and excitement from a yacht.
Where is best?
There are so many destinations to choose from when deciding where to go on your sailing holiday. We’ve chosen three hot spots to help you make your decision.
Croatia
With many unspoilt and remote islands to discover, a Croatian sailing holiday is the ideal destination for those with a sense of adventure.
Cruise upon the crystal clear waters and stop to visit the historical villages and small marinas which are becoming increasingly popular with sailing holidaymakers. With countless town quays, you’ll never be far from a restaurant or shop for supplies.
Overnight, you can either moor up in a marina with all its conveniences or opt for setting anchor in a secluded creek. Or why not anchor in a quiet bay, perfect for a peaceful swim?
You’ll receive the warmest welcome, typical of Croat hospitality. And warm sunshine too! Croatia has 2600 hours of sunshine per year. Early summer brings good winds, making May and June the best months to go. July and August offer calmer periods, suitable for those preferring a more peaceful sailing holiday.
This amazing country has loads on offer and is great for both those new to sailing and veterans of the sport.
Where to visit – Dalmation Coast, Korcula, Dubrovnic.
Greece
Clear turquoise seas and colourful views ranging from vineyards and orchards to rocky terrains and pebble beaches. Greece offers the most spectacular scenery.
Visit the beautiful quaint villages and sheltered harbours the Greek islands have to offer. Greece also offers sailing holiday makers many places of historical and cultural interest as well as stunning architecture.
Quiet sandy beaches in picturesque coves make for the perfect anchor. In the evenings you can tie up on the quay at one of the many holiday resorts and take in the nightlife.
The weather is invariably good throughout the summer months and the light afternoon breeze makes Greece an ideal sailing location. From April until October there is very little rainfall but the islands still manage to maintain their lush greenness.
The southern island is ideal for the less experienced sailor due to the sheltered waters and shorter routes. The North offers less crowded waters but longer passages for more adventurous sailing.
Where to visit – Cephalonia, Corfu, Ithaka, Paxos, Kythira.
Italy
A gorgeous coastline of breathtaking mountains, still lakes and idyllic islands coupled with vibrant cities, make Italy the perfect destination for holiday cruising.
Italy is a country which has preserved its history for thousands of years. Naples is ideal for art lovers wishing to visit museums and monuments, while Tuscany offers rustic charm and raw beauty. If glamour and style is what you crave then Capri is the place to visit, and the history and diversity of the Amalfi Coast is second to none. A yachting holiday may just be the best way to discover everything that Italy has to offer!
Moor your yacht at one of the many local harbours and take in the superb restaurants serving the finest food. There are always plenty of shops nearby for sailing supplies, making it an ideal base for families. Bays and moorings can get crowded in busy periods.
Italy is one of the most popular sailing destinations with all seasons offering great weather conditions. More than 5000 miles of coastline border the country and most of it stays sunny for the majority of the year. July and August are the hottest months with the lightest winds.
Both experienced sailors and beginners will find a yachting holiday in Italy an experience to treasure forever.
Where to visit – Capri, Almalfi Coast, the Pontine Islands, Procida.
What Now?
If you are an experienced sailor you can charter your own yacht. Remember an up to date competency certificate is usually required. Or why not arrange for a skipper to do all the hard work for you? Either way, a yachting holiday is a fantastic adventure and a wonderful alternative to the standard summer holiday. Make sure you plan your trip with care, do lots of research before you travel and always ensure you are covered by your insurance policy!

Bournemouth: the Happiest Town in the UK
Britain and bad weather go hand-in-hand, if we are to believe the rumours, but the south of the country isn’t actually all that bad and many of the south coast seaside resorts can be great destinations for domestic holidays.
Bournemouth is one such place and as a coastal town that has seven miles of beautiful sandy beaches, a year-round temperate climate and which is only a couple of hours commute from London, it’s hardly surprising that over two million people visit the town each year by rail.
In a recent survey, Bournemouth was identified as being the happiest town in the whole of the United Kingdom, with its beaches, nightlife and ease of access to open, green spaces cited as one of the main reasons for its perennial cheerfulness.
The town may have somewhat of a reputation as a place where people move when its time to retire, but nothing could be further from the truth. As Dorset’s most populous settlement, Bournemouth attracts almost fifteen thousand students to its university each year, meaning it has a very youthful, happening scene, with many pubs and clubs offering great opportunities for those wishing to party into the small hours.
For visitors wanting a birds-eye view of the town, the Bournemouth Balloon offers a spectacular position from which to see the surrounding area. The helium-filled craft is attached to the ground with a steel cable and the balloon lifts passengers five hundred feet into the sky, offering panoramic views of the English Channel. On a clear day, people can see for up to twenty miles and this is by far the highest public observation point in the whole of Bournemouth.
For those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground, then Bournemouth offers up amazing opportunities for visitors with a penchant for nature. Many remarkable species of plants and animals can be found here and the nearby Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour is one of the last few places in the south of England where red squirrels can still be found. This is due to the fact that grey squirrels have never been introduced to the island.
There is so much to keep the fussiest of visitors entertained in this splendid seaside resort, which means that accommodation is always in demand throughout the year. However, even in a year-round busy town such as Bournemouth cheap hotels can still be found, just make sure to book ahead.
With an abundance of unique wildlife, green spaces, beaches and warm weather, Bournemouth is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, and for those who already live there, it’s hardly surprising it is the happiest town in the country!
