Weight Loss Tips – 5 Simple Tips for Eating at Restaurants

Going out to eat is one of America’s favorite pastimes. That’s evidenced by the billions of dollars we spend each year doing so. While it may be fun eating out, it can also be very fattening if you’re not careful. Here are 5 simple tips to keep in mind when eating at restaurants and trying to lose weight.

1. Just Say No To Appetizers

When asked if you would like an appetizer, just say no. The same for the pre-meal loaf of bread or rolls. At the very least, take home the appetizer for later. Just don’t eat them before your meal.

2. Watch The Dinner Salad

Dinner salads are great if you watch what is on them. Lettuce, tomatoes, carrots or other vegetables are fine. But, leave off the bacon bits or croutons. Stick to an Italian dressing or an oil and vinegar based dressing. Forget about the thick creamy ranch or thousand island.

3. Watch The Sides

Many dishes you order come with some kind of rice or pasta. Avoid this if at all possible. Substitute the rice for a side of fresh vegetables or the seasoned veggies. Filling up on rice or pasta will only contribute to filling out your waistline.

4. No Fried Or Breaded Foods

A deep-fat fried chicken steak may taste good, but it also puts on the pounds. This even applies to a fish dinner. Instead, order the broiled fish or even the shrimp, etc that is not breaded.

5. Pass On The Desert

Desert may be tempting, but again, just say no. Stuffing yourself after a meal with the chocolate brownie delight is doing nothing for your diet and weight loss goals. It only goes straight to your waistline.

These 5 simple tips can greatly help you with any weight loss plan you are on. Even if you are not on a diet they can help you keep your weight in check if you eat out a lot.

Where to see and go in Maldives?

Coral Reefs

There are several kinds of corals in Maldives. The most common one will be the stony coral (Order Madreporaria or Scleractinia), numbering around a thousand species.

You will not be able to see anything in the deep blue sea zone through snorkeling as it is too deep. Remember to check that the resort you are booking has house reefs so you can see the beautiful reefs under the sea.

Other kinds of corals include the black and thorny corals (Antipatharia) and soft corals. An interesting species will be the walking coral (Heteropsammia Michelinii). It actually does not move on its own – There’s a marine worm living in its limy skeleton and as this worm moves around, foraging for food, it drags the small one-inch-long coral with it.

The Coral Reefs in Maldives are the safest haven of various marine animals. These include the gray reef shark, white tip reef shark, manta ray, eagle ray and lobsters. All these animals are unique ones and have their own role in the ecology of the reef.

Sea Animals

The waters at Maldives are inhabited by several sea animals as well. They include the Sharks, Eels, turtles, Rays (common ones: Manta Rays, Sting Rays and Eagle Rays) dolphins and 20,000 species of fish.

Pubs & Tours

There are no must go places in Maldives. Depending on the size of the resort island, you can take about half an hour to tour a whole small resort island. People mainly go there for the Sea, Sand, Sun and of course Relax! Some of the local islands are prohibited to tourists and if you would like to go there, you may need to join local tours for island hopping organize by the locals and then you will be permitted to visit the Maldives local lifestyle. Also, the local people drink well water actually.

There are also local fishing tours at primitive islands which you can join. These places are the only places which you can fish. You are not able to fish at other areas.

During night time, there are pubs for you to have your dosage of beer and relax by the sea with live bands and local dances.

Discover Natural History and Amazing Wildlife

Sanibel Island had humble beginnings as a sandbar.  Over hundreds of years, that sandbar grew off the coast of southwest Florida to become the beautiful, eleven-mile long island that it is today.  The island, and its sister Captiva, are home to some of Florida’s most amazing wildlife communities, as well as some lush foliage that can rarely be seen anywhere else on Earth.  Visitors will likely drive to the island from Miami, over the causeway that was completed in 1974.  The causeway was specifically designed so that it would never interfere with any of the natural resources located on the island.

The island was first inhabited by the Calusa, a tribe of Native Americans.  These inhabitants found that the land and water could easily sustain them with farming and fishing.  The natural resources of island are still protected to this day by an executive order from President Harry Truman.  Visitor and residents alike can enjoy the meandering bicycle paths that cover the island and offer amazing views of animals and plants that are normally only seen in captivity.

The J.N. Darling Wildlife refuge has been a major focal point on the island since 1967.  There are nearly three thousand acres of pristine wetlands and forest for visitors to explore, though it is important to remain on paths at all times.  Some of the animals may be dangerous of course, but not as dangerous as you are to the delicate ecosystems that can be found.  You can participate in several learning activities at the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge, including lessons on protecting our environment and histories of the animals and plants that inhabit the island.

Though the island does have very strict protection for its natural areas, there are still many modern conveniences for visitors.  There are dozens of hotels and resorts that dot the island, offering fun beach activities and water sports.  Shops and galleries are abundant in the village area, with gifts, fashions, and crafts available throughout the year.  The dining on Sanibel and Captiva are second to none, as well.  This is a wonderful place to enjoy a wholesome and fun family vacation, or the perfect spot for a destination wedding.  The nightlife is present, but the island is always generally quieter than many other beach destinations.  You can truly find anything that you seek on the island, including rest and relaxation on the sugar sand

Discover the Past, Present and Future in Dubai

If you’re seriously interested in knowing about Dubai, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about Dubai.

The rich culture of the desert city of Dubai draws on its ancient Arabian heritage, vast modern technology and cosmopolitan luxuries. For centuries a land devoted mainly to herding and trade, Dubai was rocketed into modern times by the discovery of oil just off of its coast in 1966. Enormous riches funded by oil production have produced a native population which, in the main, is well educated, healthy, highly paid and liberal minded. Tourism is actively courted in Dubai, particularly in the impressive Palm Islands development.

Touted as the eighth world wonder, Palm Island is a an incredible tribute to engineering, design, and absolute opulence. Palm Island – Deira is the largest of the three Palm Islands. A unique man-made phenomenon, the Palm Islands can be seen from space by the naked eye. A trunk, a 41- frond crown, and a water- breaking crescent island form Palm Island – Deira. Nearly eight thousand villas and apartment homes, private and public beaches, shopping, recreation and sports facilities are included in the plans for this incredible development. Fantastic resorts and attractions are also available for those looking for the ultimate upscale vacation experience.

Sport is a huge part of the culture of Dubai, and is reflected in the many entertainment options open to visitors of the city. Polo fields and golf courses abound. The richest horse racing event in the world, The Dubai World Cup, is run on a Dubai track and attracts visitors from around the world. Water sports from the most adventurous to the most tranquil are available in the warm waters off of Dubai’s white sand beaches. Viewing some of the region’s more traditional sporting events such as camel racing, dhow sailing and falconry should also not be missed.

Sophistication is one of the hallmarks of the Dubai – and larger United Arab Emerates – culture. World- class cosmopolitan restaurants sit next to local establishments serving the best in local cuisine and fresh juices. Indian, Lebanese, and Thai flavours are often featured in the most popular restaurants. Many of Dubai’s best restaurants are inside of, or within easy walking distance of, the city’s hotels, which are allowed to serve alcohol despite the city’s Islamic roots. Prices range from very affordable to astronomically high, depending on one’s tastes, and menus and service are most often available in English as well as the native Arabic.

So far, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts about Dubai. You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

Shopping in Dubai is amongst the best in the world, with designer boutiques offering the most exclusive fashions and products to savvy shoppers. Jewelery, vehicles, electronics, décor items and sports equipment are also common purchases, often offered at low prices. There are no local taxes on purchases, and for those skillful at bartering, the souks (markets) offer vast opportunities for bargains on indigenous goods. Must-see sightseeing sites in Dubai include the Gold Souk, the Deira Covered Souk, the Spice Souk, the Palm Island development, Al Boom Tourist Village, Bedouin Village, the Dubai World Trade Centre, and the Jumeirah Mosque. Archaeological enthusiasts will enjoy the Al Ghusals, Al Sufooh and Jumeirah excavation sites featuring graveyards and artifacts more than 1,000 years old.

Dubai’s ultra- contemporary architecture, panoramic ocean vistas, beautiful beaches, and historical sites are all fetching subjects for photography buffs, but it is wise to refrain from taking photos of government facilities, sea- and air ports, and military installations. Permission should also be asked and granted before photographing the local population, particularly Muslim women, who may be offended at having their photo taken.

Highly accessible to international traffic, Dubai is served by 90 airlines. Major European centres such as London are only seven hours away by plane with regular in- and out- going flights.

Arabic is the official language of Dubai, but written and spoken English is heavily used in the business and commercial sectors as well as in the tourism and entertainment industries. Dubai is a progressive Islamic country. Respect for local customs and religious traditions is expected and appreciated, but not to the extremes of some Islamic- ruled areas. In return, the Dubai people offer tolerance for differing lifestyles. Women are not discriminated against and may travel freely unescorted. Western visitors are able to dress as they like, however modesty in clothing is recommended. Limit very short, tight, or revealing items of clothing. The local population has adopted some styles of western dress, but it is most common to see men wearing the traditional white dishdasha or khandura robe and gutra (headdress), and women wearing modest black abaya robes and a head scarf over their regular clothing. These styles of dress suit the religious requirements of the Islamic population and offer protection from the hot desert sun.

Dubai’s weather is picture perfect for most of the year, combining the best features of a sub-tropical, arid climate. Rain is very infrequent, falling an average of only five days each year (mostly during the winter season), but the temperature can vary by nearly 40 degrees Celsius between 10 degrees and 48 degrees Celsius.

Demand for property in Dubai has surged in recent years, driven by a burgeoning population of nearly four million people and the recent ability of foreigners to hold real- estate. Dubai’s safe lifestyle, positive tourism investment potential, favorable tax rates and perceived high property value have all contributed to the current interest in buying property in the city. In addition to the variety of hotels, resorts and other standard tourist accommodation options, private accommodations from apartments to luxury villas located on secluded beaches are available for sale and rent in Dubai.

If you learned anything new about Dubai in this article, you should file the article where you can find it again.
